Mr. Garabedian received his Bachelor of Arts degree at New York University in 1982, with a double major in English Literature and Classical Civilizations. Upon graduation from NYU, he attended Union University, Albany Law School, and received his Juris Doctor in 1985.

Mr. Garabedian was a former Assistant District Attorney in the Suffolk County District Attorneys Office in the District Court Bureau. He then entered civil practice in Manhattan, where he engaged in federal and state litigation in products liability, maritime law and Jones Act cases, and defense insurance matters. Mr. Garabedian then returned to Long Island, where he engaged in general practice, handling commercial litigation, plaintiff’s personal injury cases, criminal defense, and matrimonial and family court matters. He later went into private practice, drawing upon his litigation experience to handle commercial, transactional matters for domestic, closely-held corporations, partnerships and business professionals.

Mr. Garabedian has successfully handled jury trials and bench trials in the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, as well as New York State Supreme Courts in New York City and Long Island. He has also argued cases before the New York State Appellate Divisions in the First and Second Departments, and actively participated in appeals to the United States Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit.

In addition to practicing law, Mr. Garabedian is the President of the Board of Directors of Hopscotch Adoptions, Inc., a Hague Convention accredited, not-for-profit international adoption provider dedicated to orphan relief and adoptive placement of children from the Armenia, Bulgaria, Republic of Georgia, Ghana, Morocco and Serbia with families in the U.S. and abroad.
Mr. Garabedian is the former Chairman of the Board of Directors for the New York Armenian Home, a not-for-profit assisted living facility in New York City.

Most recently, Mr. Garabedian was President of the Board of Trustees and two-term board member for the John Jermain Memorial Library in Sag Harbor, New York, where he was actively involved in the renovation of the historic building as well as construction of a new addition.

Mr. Garabedian was admitted to the bar in New York State in January, 1986, and admitted in the United States District Courts for the Eastern District and Southern District, as well as the United States Court of Appeals (2nd Circuit).
