Egan & Golden, LLP is pleased to welcome John J. Roe, III, Esq., as Senior Counsel to the Firm. Mr. Roe will lead the Firm's Estate Planning Practice Group. Mr Roe brings to the firm his Estate Planning Team, including Linda Munkelwitz and Dr Maureen Shaiman.
John J. Roe, III was graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Brown University and earned his law degree from the University of Virginia. Mr. Roe concentrates his practice in estate planning and business and real estate matters, ranging from simple to sophisticated and complex transactions. He is a past Chair of the Surrogate’s Court Committee of the Suffolk County Bar Association from 2000 to 2012.
Mr. Roe was elected as the Village Justice of the Village of Bellport and served in that position for over forty years. He is a past President of the Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce and was instrumental in the development and creation of the Patchogue Business Improvement District. After its creation in 1991, he served as President for ten years. He assumed the Presidency of the organization again in 2012.
He is a Vice-President and attorney for the Suffolk County Council, Inc. Boy Scouts of America. He is an Eagle Scout and received the Silver Beaver award for his service to Scouting. He is a Fellow of the New York State Bar Association and an active member of the Suffolk County and American Bar Associations.
He is the ninth generation of persons named John Roe to live in the Town of Brookhaven. One of his ancestors, Austin Roe, was a spy for the Colonials in the Revolutionary War.
