Brian T. Egan,
Esq. was graduated from College Misericordia and
received his law degree from St. John's University School of Law.
During law school he was elected an Articles and Notes Editor of the
American Bankruptcy Law Review, and also was recipient of the
prestigious Joseph Bernfeld Award from the Los Angeles Bankruptcy
Forum.
During law school he clerked with the Hon. William L. Underwood,
Jr., a Justice of the State Supreme Court, and thereafter entered
private practice. Since Mr. Egan's admission to practice, he has
concentrated on general civil litigation.
Mr. Egan is Special Counsel to Joseph Sawicki, Jr., the Comptroller
of Suffolk County. He has been Special Counsel to the Incorporated
Village of Patchogue on complex litigations, and currently serves as
Village Attorney and Acting Village Prosecutor by appointment of the
Patchogue Village Mayor and Board of Trustees. He also serves as a
Special Assistant District Attorney by appointment of Suffolk County
District Attorney Thomas Spota.
Mr. Egan is currently serving his second term as Chairman of the
Suffolk County Bar Association's Professional Ethics Committee. He
previously has served on the Judicial Screening Committee. Mr. Egan
is a Past President of the Brehon Society of Suffolk County, an
association of Irish lawyers and judges. With family roots in
Suffolk County, Long Island that date to 1641, and in the Patchogue
community going back over a century, Mr. Egan is an active member of
the Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce, and organized pro bono
the Chamber's non-profit arm, the Greater Patchogue Foundation, Inc.
He also serves on the Board of Managers of the Brookhaven-Roe
Y.M.C.A.
Mr. Egan is admitted to practice in the United States Court of
Appeals for the Second Circuit, the United States District Courts in
the Southern, Eastern, and Western Districts of New York, and all
New York State courts. He is a member of the New York State and
Suffolk County Bar Associations.
